Unsupported Software

The following software I had authored/created, developed and maintained for other composers in-kind, but I am unable to continue this. For example, changes to Mac's processing architecture (i.e. the Apple silicon M1), changes in the protocol version of the Decibel Scoreplayer, and at times changes to the music scores themselves require this software to undergo ongoing maintenance. If you wish to run this software on a newer system, and the last update was from some time ago, there is a likelihood the patcher files require some changes. Feel free to use this software, and change it as you need, provided you acknowledge me.
Cat Hope's Speechless (2019) - this software is a custom-built multi-instrument and cue-system for the Adelaide and Perth performances of Speechless. The software runs in Cycling74's Max, and was developed by drawing on some of my own composition and performance practices which tend to often focus on the creation of customised instruments. Beware some of the audio cues are loud or volatile (for example, cue 29 MICROPHONE FEEDBACK).
  • 27th July 2017 - Version 0.9 (programmed over a week for the development run in Adelaide)
  • 26th February 2019 - Version 1.0 (reviewed as part of the premiere in Perth; last tested in Max 8)

Cat Hope's Their Lives Are Stripped of Meaning (2018) - this software I developed in Cycling74's Max for the electronics component of this score. The software has been designed to chase-sync over a network with the DSZ score as it scrolls in the Decibel ScorePlayer application. The software was also designed to remove the need for an 'electronics operator', automating the cues throughout. This latest version was tested on a Mac M2 and requires both Max packages Zero and ODOT to operate as required.
  • 12th May 2018 - Version 0.9 (developed the electronics processing patch for Max 7, built in flexibility as a request by one of the premiere performers the option of running without a network; supported Decibel ScorePlayer protocol version 14)
  • 26th April 2019 - Version 1.0 (updated versions for both Max 7 and Max 8, and using updated 64-bit Intel versions of sigmund~ and opensoundcontrol; updated the patcher to Decibel ScorePlayer protocol version 15)
  • 14th October 2023 - Version 1.1 (updated the patcher for the silicon Mac M1, with a silicon version of sigmund~; updated the patcher for Decibel ScorePlayer protocol version 16; updated the patcher with the ODOT framework instead of opensoundcontrol)

  • 26th February 2021 - Version 1.1 (updated the patcher based on DSZ score update from the composer for Elision Ensemble; updated the patcher for Decibel ScorePlayer protocol version 16)
  • 25th January 2024 - Version 1.2 (updated the patcher for the silicon Mac M1, with a silicon version of sigmund~; updated the patcher with the ODOT framework instead of opensoundcontrol)

Cat Hope's Kaps Freed (2017) - this software I developed in Cycling74's Max for the electronics component of this score. Please use the DSZ score file that is included here to ensure both the performance score and processing are synchronised (please note there are several different versions of the DSZ score where events have different timepoints, and whilst I was able to warp the automation data to suit this version of the DSZ by hacking the clock/tick data, it wasn't easy. Someone else may be keen to go through this exercise again!)
  • 29th March 2017 - Version 1 (written for Max 7; this was the original spectral version that I conceived of using the customised spectral unmask freeze analysis/resynthesis process, and includes the automation data generated by tracing the pitch contours of the electronics component in another specially customised patcher; in this version, the networking was implemented using the zeroconf and opensoundcontrol objects, and supported Decibel Scoreplayer protocol version 14)
  • 30th June 2017 - Version 2 (added sine wave capability in addition to the spectral unmask freeze analysis/resynthesis; developed the pitch controller framework to ensure that the pitch control automation data were driving the sine waves and analysis/resynthesis in a consistent way, even though one uses frequency input and the other requires the use of  )
  • 29th September 2017 - Version 3 (refined the patcher for the ACMC conference)
  • 9th January 2018 - Version 4 (hacked the time/tick data in order to warp the automation data so that it matched up to the new timepoints in the updated score DSZ dated from 29th September 2017, this was the version used for the studio recording)
  • 23rd February 2018 - Version 5 (touring version for Gabriella Smart)
  • 30th July 2018 - Version 6 (removed the spectral snapshot functions, and kept the sine tones, for collaborative performance with Gabriella Smart)
  • 27th February 2019 - Version 7 (updated the patcher for Decibel Scoreplayer protocol version 15)
  • 25th April 2019 - Version 8 (updated the patcher for Max 8 and using updated 64-bit intel versions of sigmund~ and opensoundcontrol)
  • 24th Jan 2024 - Version 9 (updated the patcher for the silicon Mac M1, with a silicon version of sigmund~; updated the patcher for Decibel Scoreplayer protocol version 16; updated the patcher with the ODOT framework instead of opensoundcontrol)

Cat Hope's Sogno 102 (2013) - this software I developed in Cycling74's Max for the electronics component of this score. Operating the electronics involves manually cuing sine tone entries indicated in the DSZ score as it scrolls in the Decibel ScorePlayer application. Originally authored and workshopped between 2nd and 8th December 2013, the last update here is from 10th April 2018.
